This entry-level course provides a comprehensive introduction to soft tissue mobilization and trigger point therapy, specifically designed for occupational therapy practitioners. Participants will gain foundational knowledge essential for addressing musculoskeletal issues commonly encountered in clinical practice. This course covers key concepts such as the identification and treatment of trigger points, basic soft tissue mobilization techniques, and the integration of these methods into holistic treatment plans. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the underlying anatomy, safe application of techniques, and adapting interventions to meet individual client needs.
By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with knowledge to consider incorporating soft tissue mobilization and trigger point therapy into their practice, enhancing their ability to alleviate pain, improve function, and promote overall well-being in their clients.
Target Audience
This course is ideal for occupational therapy students, new graduates, and practitioners looking to expand their skill set in manual therapy techniques. No prior experience with soft tissue mobilization is required.
Educational Level
Introductory: Information is geared to practitioners with little or no knowledge of the subject matter. Focus is on providing general introductory information.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Recognize the physiological and therapeutic need for utilizing soft tissue mobilization of muscle fibers.
- Compare pathologic soft tissue anatomy to typical soft tissue anatomy.
- Recognize the significance and efficacy of soft tissue mobilization within the context of occupational therapy intervention.
Completion Requirements
1 Contact Hour for State of Florida Occupational Therapy practitioners will be awarded upon a successful completion of a multiple choice post-test. Participants will be able to print a certificate of completion after completing a short course evaluation in addition to the post-test.

Instructional Methods
One (1) hour course during which the learner will view a streaming video presentation, reference PowerPoint® slides, and take a multiple choice post-test.
